The Foundation received a report from St. Cuthbert’s Hopice on how they used the grant we gave them, and also the wonderful gift by Gloria on behalf of Flora Pro-Active of a Garden. It is a great report, of which we have published here a story of one of their local residents, Mr. Barry Cowell.
. . . Local resident Barry Cowell has been using our planned respite service every four months since 2006. It was Barry who, in April 2011, place a pebble engraved with Caron Keating’s name in the stream running through our Memory Garden, as a mark of the Hospice’s appreciation for the £9,000 grant made by the Caron Keating Foundation. Barry’s wife Cath has told the Hospice: ‘The care Barry receives at St Cuthbert’s Hospice is second-to-none. The staff are incredible and work so hard to make sure that each patient has the highest amount of care, dignity and respect. The respite in particular is so important to give us both a break, and when Barry is in respite I can rest assured that he is getting the best care possible’.
