A sample of beneficiaries
C.A.L.L. £10,000
This Freefone call centre offers practical and emotional help to cancer patients
within the Stockport and Greater Manchester area. This valuable service can
be extended with the help of the above grant from the Caron Keating Foundation
allowing more volunteers to be trained and the phone lines to be open longer
hours. www.canceraid.co.uk
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust £10,000
Lanarkshire is a big country within Scotland and the Lanarkshire Cancer Care
Trust has volunteer drivers who ferry patients to and from their hospital appointments.
This is a valuable service as some distances are not served by public transport.
The grant from the Caron Keating Foundation will enable the drivers to continue
this thriving facility.
Harlington Hospice £12,000
Lymphoedema is a uncomfortable and painful side effect from breast cancer.
The Harlington Hospice in Middlesex has an expanding Lymphoedema Clinic, which
is very busy and necessary. Going to the hospice helps local people avoid having
to go into busy London and the grant from the Caron Keating Foundation will
fund a Caron Keating Room for the clinic. www.harlingtonhospice.org
The Princess Alice Hospice £25,000
The Princess Alice Hospice is based in Esher, Surrey. They have just finished
building a large development project which has extended the existing building
and facilities. The Caron Keating Award will provide a consulting room for
complementary therapies that will be named in Caron’s honour. www.pah.org
St Luke’s Hospice £18,000
St Luke’s Hospice has cared for the people in the surrounding areas
of Plymouth for fourteen years. They are aware that emotional support can stop
for relatives and carers prematurely and they continue this support with holistic
care. The grant from the Caron Keating Foundation will enable more training
for volunteers and will enable a co-ordinator to organise this service in the
most efficient manner. www.stlukes-hospice.org.uk
